Outdoor Hydroponic Farming for Hotels in Seychelles Growing Fresh Vegetables Direct to Restaurant

The client operates a vacation hotel in Seychelles. Due to Seychelles' year-round warm, humid climate with abundant sunshine, traditional agricultural cultivation is not ideal. Vegetable prices are relatively high, prompting the client to start their own farming project. However, vegetable planting requires careful consideration of soil quality, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control. For a small island with limited arable land and scarce water resources, this is not an ideal solution. Consequently, the client approached us, deciding to try a hydroponic system to solve the restaurant's vegetable supply issues. The client's goal is to cultivate fresh vegetables within the hotel's 500-square-meter outdoor space, directly supplying ingredients to the restaurant. This approach ensures vegetable quality while reducing costs, simultaneously establishing a signature “farm-to-table” hotel initiative.


To meet these requirements, we recommended the Dutch Bucket System and the A-Frame NFT Hydroponic System. The Dutch Bucket System is highly suitable for growing taller, fruiting vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and eggplants. These vegetables require ample growing space, which the Dutch bucket design provides to ensure healthy root development and vine growth. The A-frame NFT hydroponic system is specifically suited for leafy greens and herbs like Chinese cabbage, lettuce, parsley, mint, basil, and scallions. Its efficient water flow and nutrient solution delivery guarantee rapid growth and high-quality yields.


Considering Seychelles' intense sunlight, the client constructed shade structures for the project to prevent direct sunlight exposure, protecting vegetables from harsh light and ensuring optimal growing conditions. The hydroponic system's efficient management and uniform water-nutrient supply enable stable vegetable and fruit growth in the tropical climate, yielding impressive harvests.


Since the hydroponic system's implementation, the hotel restaurant has enjoyed a continuous supply of fresh vegetables. Customer feedback indicates that these hydroponically grown vegetables, sourced directly from the hotel's farm to the kitchen, have enhanced both quality and taste. Furthermore, the hydroponic system's automation reduces manual labor requirements, lowering operational costs. This hydroponic project has also become a major attraction for the hotel, offering guests locally grown, fresh vegetables that add a unique feature to the dining experience.


Currently, the client plans to expand farming scale to meet growing demand. We will continue providing technical support and enhanced hydroponic products to ensure the project's long-term, efficient operation.
