Hydroponic A-Frame Strawberry System in Denmark Greenhouse for Vertical Growing

In high-latitude regions like Denmark, where winters are long and sunlight varies dramatically by season, growing quality strawberries in a greenhouse requires more than just experience and good intentions. One recent client understood this challenge firsthand and reached out to us for a controlled, efficient hydroponic growing solution tailored to his greenhouse environment.

He operates a 75-square-meter greenhouse and wanted to maximize this space for consistent strawberry production even during the cold months. Traditional soil-based growing presented several persistent problems: strawberries touching the ground were prone to fungal diseases like grey mold; constant bending for planting, maintenance, and harvesting was physically demanding; and ground-level cultivation simply didn't make the most efficient use of his limited greenhouse footprint.

We recommended our vertical A-frame strawberry hydroponic system. The core idea is simple: grow strawberries up in the air, not down in the dirt.

The A-frame structure is designed for vertical hydroponic farming, dramatically increasing planting density within the same floor area. This allows a 75-square-meter greenhouse to achieve significantly higher production capacity compared to traditional layouts. Strawberries are planted in tiers along the frame, with fruits naturally hanging in the air, completely separated from the ground—this alone reduces soil-borne diseases and contamination risks. For the grower, the ergonomic benefits are just as important: daily tasks like pruning, inspection, and harvesting are performed at waist level, eliminating the need for constant bending and reducing physical strain during long working hours.

Beyond the hardware, we provided customized system planning based on his greenhouse dimensions. We designed the layout, including row spacing, A-frame positioning, and access pathways—ensuring both planting density and comfortable working space. The client reviewed the design and approved the plan.

As a first step, the client decided to test the system by ordering two 4-meter A-frame strawberry hydroponic units as samples. His goal is to evaluate system performance under real Danish greenhouse conditions while gaining hands-on experience with hydroponic strawberry cultivation techniques. The samples are currently in production and will be shipped upon completion. If the test results meet expectations, he plans to scale up and gradually fill the entire greenhouse with this system.

For this Danish grower, the A-frame strawberry hydroponic system represents more than just equipment—it's a complete answer to the question: How do you grow strawberries efficiently and consistently in a cold-climate greenhouse?
