A gardening lover from the UK recently purchased our NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) pipe samples for a controlled environment cultivation experiment on strawberries. With its humid and cool climate, the UK is highly suitable for exploring indoor controlled growing environments. Therefore, he specifically designed a compact growing space capable of precisely controlling key factors such as light intensity, nutrient solution flow rate, temperature, and humidity to achieve efficient and stable plant growth.
During the experiment, the customer placed particular emphasis on root management. He ingeniously covered the surface of our NFT pipes with a light-blocking film to prevent light penetration, inhibit algae growth, and maintain a clean, stable oxygen environment. This approach significantly improved root conditions, providing strawberries with more ideal growth parameters.
The NFT piping system used in this experimental project features a custom-developed rectangular structure measuring 12mm × 8mm. This design ensures uniform nutrient solution flow within the shallow channel while maintaining high oxygen levels, promoting robust root development. Based on the client's cultivation requirements, we also customized the diameter and spacing of planting holes to better suit strawberry plant spacing and canopy growth needs. This flexible design not only enhances nutrient absorption efficiency and optimizes plant space utilization but also supports a wide range of crops, from delicate strawberries to various leafy greens.
Our NFT system, distinguished by its streamlined structure, high fluid stability, and extensive customization, is increasingly becoming a vital component of controlled environment agriculture. We look forward to further achievements from our UK client in subsequent trials and hope this research offers new insights for urban strawberry cultivation and sustainable agricultural exploration.
