This Container Farm is a fully customized vertical farming system built inside a standard refrigerated (reefer) shipping container and equipped with a professional EBB (Ebb & Flow) irrigation system. Originally developed for a demanding U.S. client, this solution delivers exceptional thermal insulation and environmental stability, making it ideal for regions with extreme cold, heat, or large temperature fluctuations.
By using a reefer container as the structural shell, the system achieves outstanding energy efficiency while remaining fully compliant with international shipping standards, enabling fast and reliable global deployment.
Advanced Insulation and True Dry–Wet Separation
Inside the container, a fireproof and moisture-resistant Silicon Rock partition creates true dry and wet separation. This structure is especially important for EBB systems, as it protects electrical components and control units from moisture exposure while maintaining a stable root-zone environment.
An external smart control panel allows operators to adjust climate and irrigation parameters before entering the container, minimizing environmental disturbance and improving operational efficiency.
Industrial-Grade 5-Layer Heavy-Duty EBB Growing Racks
The system features custom-designed 5-layer powder-coated carbon steel growing racks, engineered specifically for EBB irrigation. Each layer supports up to 1.5 tons, ensuring safe and stable operation during repeated flood-and-drain cycles.
Food-grade polypropylene EBB trays are reinforced with side protection to prevent deformation caused by water weight and long-term use. This design ensures consistent water distribution, proper root oxygenation, and long service life under intensive commercial production.
Optimized Lighting, Airflow, and Climate Control
Each growing layer is equipped with multi-row adjustable LED grow lights and internal circulation fans that simulate natural airflow, supporting strong root development and uniform crop growth in EBB systems.
A top-mounted ventilation fan works together with the air conditioning unit to rapidly stabilize temperature and humidity after each irrigation cycle. The floor is constructed from 304 stainless steel with anti-slip treatment, combined with integrated airflow channels to ensure efficient air circulation and hygienic operation.
Precision EBB Irrigation and Nutrient Management
At the core of the system is an automatic EBB nutrient delivery system, combined with precise EC and pH dosing control. Nutrient solution is periodically flooded to the root zone and then fully drained, providing plants with optimal access to water, nutrients, and oxygen.An integrated CO₂ enrichment system further enhances photosynthesis and crop yield, making the system suitable for leafy greens, herbs, and other high-value crops.
Biosecurity and Water Hygiene Protection
To maintain clean and stable nutrient circulation, UV sterilization lamps are installed inside the 304 stainless steel water tank and pipeline system. This reduces pathogen buildup in the recirculating EBB system and supports consistent crop quality across production cycles.
Smart Automation with Global Remote Control
All key components—including EBB irrigation cycles, lighting schedules, climate control, and nutrient dosing—can be managed via a local HMI touchscreen or remotely through a mobile app. Growers can monitor real-time system status and make adjustments from anywhere in the world, enabling efficient, low-labor smart farming.
Fully Customizable for Commercial EBB Farming Projects
The system supports full customization, including EBB tray dimensions, rack spacing, crop types, automation level, and exterior branding with customer logos. It is suitable for commercial growers, urban agriculture projects, research facilities, and government food security initiatives.
