NFT Hydroponic System.NFT is a hydroponics technique in which the root system of the plant grows in a plastic tank or a fixed channel through which a nutrient solution is continuously circulated to provide the plant with the necessary nutrients and water. NFT technology is ideal for growing small, fast-growing crops such as lettuce of all kinds. Popular in home cultivation. At the same time some commercial growers use it to grow traditional Chinese medicine and some small leafy greens.
Main advantages of NFT systems
- Greatly reduce the consumption of water and nutrient solution.
- Eliminates substrate related supply, handling and cost issues.
- Relatively easy to sanitize roots and devices compared to other system types.
- Since no substrate is used, it is easy to check the roots for signs of disease, adequate nutrition, etc.
- Regular supply of nutrients (and related flushing) can prevent the accumulation of local inorganic salts in the root zone, and maintain the pH and EC of the root zone unchanged.
