A client in Kazakhstan possesses years of experience in traditional soil-based cultivation. However, over time, he gradually realized that vegetable yields and quality were difficult to maintain consistently due to constraints imposed by climate and soil conditions. To achieve more efficient and controllable vegetable production, he began seeking a modern agricultural solution.
Kazakhstan experiences cold, dry winters and hot summers with significant temperature fluctuations. Under such conditions, traditional agriculture often requires substantial irrigation and inputs. The water-saving characteristics and environmental adaptability of hydroponic systems offered an ideal solution. Based on the client's greenhouse conditions and cultivation needs, we recommended the Type A NFT hydroponic system. Featuring a multi-tiered vertical design, it enables high-density planting within a compact footprint—perfect for commercial greenhouses. This maximizes yield in limited space, enhancing greenhouse profitability.
The NFT system employs nutrient film technology, where nutrient solution circulates as a thin film within the NFT pipes. This ensures plant roots continuously receive oxygen and nutrients, promoting balanced growth. Built-in automatic pumps and timed control systems minimize manual intervention throughout the cultivation process, reducing maintenance workload while scientifically improving water and nutrient utilization.
The client selected lettuce, spinach, and herbs as the initial trial crops. Benefiting from the high-oxygen root zone environment provided by the NFT system, the growth rate of leafy greens accelerated significantly, with overall yields also increasing. The NFT hydroponic system not only helped the client conserve resources and reduce greenhouse operating costs but also demonstrated the immense potential of hydroponic agriculture in Kazakhstan. Next, he plans to expand cultivation scale and promote this efficient, energy-saving hydroponic method to more greenhouse projects.
