Commercial indoor hydroponic farming project using NFT and hydroponic tower systems in the UAE

What comes after successfully growing vegetables with one hydroponic system?

For one of our returning customers in the UAE, the answer was to explore another hydroponic technology and prepare for commercial production.In June, the customer contacted us again to inquire about our NFT hydroponic system. Previously, he had purchased five vertical hydroponic tower systems and successfully grew lettuce and a variety of organic leafy vegetables indoors. The fresh produce was supplied to his family and also sold to local community residents. After gaining practical growing experience and seeing excellent crop performance, the customer became increasingly confident in the potential of the hydroponic business.

The UAE's hot and arid climate makes outdoor vegetable cultivation challenging due to high temperatures and limited water resources. As a result, indoor hydroponic farming has become an efficient and sustainable solution for year-round production. The customer wanted to expand his growing operation while comparing different hydroponic systems in terms of productivity, crop management, and growing efficiency before investing in a larger commercial project.

Based on the available indoor growing space, we recommended our multi-layer NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) hydroponic system. The NFT system continuously circulates a thin film of nutrient-rich water around the plant roots, delivering water, nutrients, and oxygen efficiently. It is ideal for commercial production of lettuce, spinach, kale, bok choy, herbs, and other leafy greens. The multi-layer design also maximizes vertical space, allowing higher yields within a limited indoor area.

Compared with traditional soil cultivation, the NFT hydroponic growing system offers shorter growing cycles, cleaner production, reduced pest and disease risks, and more consistent crop quality. The recirculating irrigation system also improves water efficiency, making it especially suitable for sustainable agriculture in the UAE.

The customer has now completed the installation of the NFT system, and the project is operating smoothly with healthy crop growth. By comparing the performance of both the vertical hydroponic tower system and the NFT hydroponic system, the customer is evaluating the best solution for future expansion. Plans are already underway to increase the indoor growing area and develop a larger commercial hydroponic vegetable farm.
