In the Middle East, improving yield efficiency and crop diversity on top of existing hightech greenhouse infrastructure has become a key direction for agricultural modernization. An agricultural customer from Oman, operating a stable and mature greenhouse system, introduced 8P10 vertical hydroponic towers to further optimize and upgrade their overall planting structure.
The hydroponic towers feature a vertical multilayer design, with 8 planting sites per level and a total of 10 levels. Without increasing the greenhouse footprint, the system transforms underutilized vertical space into productive growing areas, effectively expanding planting capacity upward within the same structure. This approach significantly improves space utilization and enables higher planting density within a limited environment.
From a system integration perspective, the vertical hydroponic towers complement the existing greenhouse growing methods. The towers are optimized for highdensity cultivation of leafy greens and herbs, while other greenhouse systems continue to support fruiting crops such as tomatoes and cucumbers. This multisystem configuration allows the farm to match crop types with the most suitable growing method, improving operational flexibility and management efficiency.
Under Oman’s hot and arid climate conditions, the hydroponic system maximizes water efficiency through recirculating irrigation while minimizing the impact of external climate fluctuations through controlled growing environments. This enables stable, yearround production and supports a more diversified crop portfolio that can be adjusted according to market demand.
By integrating vertical hydroponic towers into an established greenhouse operation, the farm successfully increased yield per square meter and strengthened local vegetable supply capacity without expanding infrastructure. This project demonstrates the practicality of combining vertical hydroponics with mature greenhouse systems, offering a scalable and efficient solution for improving space utilization, crop diversity, and sustainable agricultural production in arid regions.
