Croatia Greenhouse NFT Hydroponic System Trial

With limited greenhouse space and a desire to test more efficient growth methods, this client from Croatia decided to conduct a hydroponic growing trial on one side of the greenhouse. Compared to traditional substrate farming, he focused more on the stability of the hydroponic system, space utilization, and whether nutrients could be truly absorbed efficiently by the crops.

After comparing multiple hydroponic solutions, our multi-tiered Type A NFT hydroponic system became the client's final choice. This system employs nutrient film technique (NFT), where roots continuously contact a thin, flowing layer of nutrient solution. This ensures consistent nutrient supply while exposing a large portion of the root system to air, enhancing oxygen exchange efficiency and promoting healthy root growth. The multi-tiered A-frame structure maximizes utilization of the greenhouse's side space with a compact layout. It does not interfere with the normal use of the original planting area while facilitating observation and daily management.

Prior to finalizing the proposal, we customized the A-type NFT system layout based on the client's greenhouse dimensions and cultivation plan, creating a comprehensive 3D model. This model visually demonstrated the NFT system's installation locations, piping structure, and nutrient solution circulation, enabling the client to understand the system's operational logic before installation and facilitating future adjustments to planting density and crop types.

This visual solution enabled the client to proceed with hydroponic trials with greater confidence. The stable nutrient supply, reduced water consumption, and scalable structural design also provided a practical foundation for future expansion of NFT hydroponics within the greenhouse.
